David and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary at the beginning of July. Man, how time flies! To celebrate, we drove up to Indianapolis and had dinner at a nice steak place we hadn’t been to. It wasn’t busy so we were able to take our time and just enjoy each other’s company.
During the meal, David asked me what my goals for the next year were.
Hmmm.
#1.) I’d like to work on getting healthier. Not only would I like to lose 25-30 pounds, more importantly, I just want to get more physically active. I have some physical issues that make me struggle with chronic pain and fatigue so most days, just the thought of exercising hurts. I’m proud to say, that for the past 7 weeks, I’ve been doing a class at our local gym twice a week and I’m actually having fun and feeling better than I have in years. I just want to keep this routine up. I’m going to be a grandma in a few weeks and I want to be healthy and be able to run around with Little Miss Harper Rose once she arrives.
#2.) FAMILY. That’s the main theme of my life right now. As many of you know, David’s Dad has been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, my parents have just relocated to Indiana, we have several other family members and friends battling cancer diagnoses and our daughter is getting ready to give birth. It just seems like it’s time for us to focus on our family right now as we tackle everything that’s going on. I don’t want to miss the opportunity to give encouragement or support because we’re busy with other obligations. So, we’ve cleared our schedule a little bit to be more deliberate on spending time with those closest to us. I want to serve my family well. “For such a time as this…”
Have you ever taken the time to think about what your goals are for the year? I challenge you to take a minute to evaluate a couple of things you want to focus on.
